About Rolex Repairs & Servicing

We are specialists in Rolex repairs, servicing and refurbishment. As a fully qualified watchmaker, we use a combination of traditional and modern watch repair techniques to repair your Rolex and restore its functions so that its movements and timekeeping are as precise as the day that you bought it.

We stock a wide range of original Rolex parts to ensure that repairs take the minimum amount of time necessary, and we are often quicker and less expensive than returning your watch to the manufacturer for repair. We never cut corners, and approach each repair with the attention to detail and exacting standards that a beautifully made Rolex watch deserves.

A Rolex watch is a luxury investment that deserves all your care and attention. It’s recommended that watches receive a full service every 3 to 5 years to keep it in top condition and ensure that it functions to the best of its ability. An effective service will restore the watch to showroom quality, maintain optimum performance, and preserve the timepiece’s reliability and accuracy.

Our prices include a full strip-down of the movement, rebuild, oiled and re-timed with the mainspring being changed. The case and bracelet will be fully refurbished and also the watch is re-sealed and guaranteed by a 24-month warranty if under 20 years old and a 12-month warranty if the watch is older than 20 years. The following parts are changed during the service: crown, tube, glass seal and backseal and mainspring.

The History of Rolex Watches

Rolex is one of the most popular premium brands. But how did it rise to such a prestigious position? Rolex was founded in 1905 by German businessman Hans Wilsdorf. Hans was only 24 at the time but he had a dream to revolutionise wristwatches by creating a watch that was both elegant and reliable, something that wasn’t possible at the time. In 1908, the brand was born. After considering hundreds of possibilities, Hans opted for the name Rolex when a ‘genie’ whispered it in his ear while travelling in London. He wanted the brand’s name to be short, easy to say and simple to remember for any language. Considering Rolex is now a household name across the world, it’s fair to say he delivered!

1926 was a big year for Rolex and the industry as a whole. It was during this year when the world’s very first waterproof and dustproof watch was launched, the Rolex Oyster! In 1945, Rolex released the Datejust, the first watch to have a date window on the dial. Rolex has had a long and rich history with plenty of ‘first moments’ that have transformed the watch industry. Today, Rolex boasts several luxury models that make for the perfect timepiece.

What Movement Does Rolex Use?

The watch movement is a critical component of any timepiece, helping the watch to operate as intended. Rolex has a history of using all three of the main types of watch movements: automatic, quartz and mechanical. However, nowadays, most Rolex watches use either automatic or mechanical movement.

The Quartz movement relies on a battery to keep working and it’s considered a convenient and inexpensive option. Mechanical watches don’t have a battery but instead incorporate hundreds of components. If a mechanical watch is well maintained, it shouldn’t ever need to be replaced. Finally, the automatic movement is similar to mechanical watches except that you don’t need to wind it every day. Automatic watches use the motion of the wearer’s wrist to wind the watch, and with a built-in power reserve, they can last for several days without being worn.

As part of our Rolex service, we will rebuild, grease and oil the watch movement to maintain your timepiece’s accuracy and functionality. If your battery has died or is leaking, we will also carry out a Rolex battery replacement, ensuring your Rolex watch is ready to perform for many more years.

How Often Should You Service Your Rolex Watch?

Rolex is one of the most premium watch brands and your watch deserves special care and attention just like any other luxury item. We like to use the analogy that if you service your car regularly, why wouldn’t you do the same for your timepiece? After all, you are likely to be wearing your watch most of the day! Watches don’t need to be replaced every so often like other high-end purchases. If you look after the watch, it will last a lifetime. A full Rolex service is recommended to avoid your watch diminishing in quality and accuracy.

Our expert watchmaker advises that your Rolex watch should be serviced every 3 to 5 years. A full Rolex service is a thorough and complex process, and you can see some of the steps involved above. Our service will restore your watch to pristine condition before the timepiece begins to break down and fail to function. We will ensure your Rolex watch is handed back in excellent condition while preserving its reliability and preventing issues before they arise. Don’t hesitate to contact us today to learn more about servicing your Rolex.

Learn More About What It Takes to Service a Rolex Watch

In a recent collaboration with Paul Thorpe, an experienced watch dealer, we presented his 40k+ YouTube subscribers with the fantastic opportunity of winning a free service and valet for their watch!

The lucky winner ended up receiving a complete service for their luxury Rolex watch – just in time for Christmas! The make and model of the watch was a Rolex Datejust 116333 and we helped restore it to its former glory. During the process, we recorded a video showing the stages that we went through while servicing and refurbishing the Rolex watch.

“Alex is the guy to trust with your watch servicing and repairs. I have just had my Rolex Submariner serviced repaired and polished by Alex. It was making a funny noise after only being serviced just over a year ago by someone else, I did not want them messing with it again so I took it to a company I can trust. Alex kept me informed on what the problems were with the watch and made it as good as new if not better. Also bought a watch from him too. Cheers Alex”

Larney Laugharne, Trustpilot

“Alex has just returned a completely refurbished nearly 40-year-old Rolex Datejust. In addition to the service, the bezel and bracelet were fully restored. The watch looks like it has just come out of a showroom. I cannot quite believe the quality of the work carried out – it is absolutely stunning! It is not every day that you come across someone who can work such miracles – Perpetual time is just amazing and Alex is someone who takes real care over his work – a true craftsman who is completely trustworthy. Thank you Alex.”

Mark Wilson, Trustpilot

“Alex has just restored an early 80’s Datejust 1601, bi-metal for me. The watch came to him in an extremely tired condition, the rotor was snapped and the fluted bezel had no peaks at all. The watch was returned to me like it had just come out of the box. I have never been disappointed with any work that he undertaken, but this was an incredible job – I am blown away by the craftsmanship.”
